Education: I obtained my undergraduate degree in History from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. I moved to Cincinnati in 2007 and completed my M.A. in American History and a minor in Latin American History in 2009. I moved to Ames in 2010 and finished my Ph.D. in May 2017 in History with fields in United States, Environmental, Western, and Eurasian Urban and Modernization history.
Hometown: I am from a small town in northeastern Wisconsin called Chilton. It is the Calumet County seat about 30 minutes south of Green Bay.
Hobbies: My main hobby right now is riding along the Iowa bike trail system. I am a fan of taking long ridges on the weekends because I get to see a lot of small towns that I don't get to see when I drive on the highway. Otherwise, you can find me at ISU tailgates or watching the Badgers, Bearcats, or Cyclones on TV somewhere.
Favorite Food: I am a relatively serious fan of foods that will end up killing me. My favorites are pizza and chicken wings. The old Black Market Pizza in Somerset had the best Reuben Pizza I've ever had but they have closed. My new favorite is the supreme from Big Tomato in Des Moines. The best chicken wings in town are probably at Pizza Pit if you like breaded wings. If not, then you've got to get to Whiskey River or The Other Place. I'm a fan of all three. Other favorite foods include pulled pork, ice cream, and the ribs I make on my smoker.
What I love most about my job: I love helping students meet their personal and professional goals. It makes me happy to see them grow into themselves as they spend time at ISU preparing for their careers.
