Advice for international students and scholars: Iowa can seem pretty small and boring, and this is from someone who grew up here, but the beauty of Ames and the Iowa State community is that with a little bit of looking there’s always something to do or something to get involved with. Iowa State is an amazing place for broadening your horizons, putting yourself out there, and ultimately finding a place to belong. So don’t be afraid to get involved in a student organization, or two, or three. It’s an amazing way to both try new things and make friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime. At least, that’s what it did for me.
