About

Dean of Students Office Technology Services (DSO TS) was developed to provide technical assistance to DSO employees. If you are not a member of the Dean of Students Office please contact Information Technology Services (ITS) at (515) 294-8034.

Tech Support

Computer and technical support is handled according to protocol of network, client, and computer services programming needs. The majority of computers are supported through ITS, and DSO TS will assist in every capacity to help with services and computer problems. Each computer with ITS support should have a BLUE/BLACK tag on it with an alphanumerical code on it. Please utilize this support, because you are paying good money for it. The ITS Help Center can be reached at 294-8034.

Equipment Checkout

DSO staff can check out laptops, digital cameras, and other technology equipment for work-related use only. To see what equipment is available and make a reservation, log on to the equipment reservation page. No equipment can be removed from the DSO without a reservation. Equpment can be picked up after 8 a.m. on the first day of your reservation and must be returned by noon on the last day of your reservation.
Log in to the equipment reservation page at www.dso.iastate.edu/equipment

Time/Deadlines

DSO TS will make every effort to assist DSO personnel in a timely manner. It is important to note that Jeff is a full-time student who has office hours. If you run into a situation that you have not received communication or updates from a member of DSO TS, please contact Nicci Port, DSO TS Supervisor.

Inventory

Periodically DSO TS will need to take inventory of all technical equipment and computer programs within the departments. When an office upgrades a computer, we will assess the needs of all the DSO computers and switch out systems accordingly. Please do not make additions or changes to your office's technology inventory without notifying Jeff.

Purchasing Computer/Technical Equipment

If your area is wishing to purchase technical equipment (i.e. computers, monitors, fax machines, printers, scanners, etc.) please contact DSO TS to arrange a time to discuss your specific needs and budget. The DSO follows the Iowa State University Computer Standards.

Computer Programs

Before purchasing a new computer program or downloading a particular program, please contact DSO TS. We may have the program on file, or we can assist in arranging ATS to come and service your computer. The majority of computers do not allow anyone but the "Administrator" to download or load new programs.

Webpage creation/changes

Website management for the DSO is no longer facilitated by DSO TS. In order to develop or create DSO webpages, please see your office's website contact person or Nicci Port, Coordinator of Outreach Services for the Dean of Students Office.
