Parents' Association

How To Be Involved

Iowa State University Parents' Association is an auxiliary organization of the Dean of Students Office, governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of parents of Iowa State Students.

Our constitution calls for 36 members to serve on the ISUPA Board of Directors. The term of membership is three years, during which time the members usually have a son or daughter enrolled as an undergraduate student at the university.

Meeting times are generally scheduled during Cyclone Family Weekend in the fall, in February, and in April around VEISHEA. Additionally, ISUPA directors volunteer for Orientation sessions in June: by sharing their valuable perspective as an experienced college-parent, and by promoting the Parents' Association.

At the winter meeting, the membership committee reviews applications to the Board. Applicants will be contacted soon thereafter. The selections will be made from those who have expressed an active interest and will be based upon ability to contribute to the work of the ISUPA, as well as considerations of geographic coverage of Iowa with smaller representatioin from the surrounding states.
