For students considering exchange to Iowa State

Location

Iowa State University is located on a lush, sprawling 2,000 acre campus in Ames, Iowa, a college town of 51,000 and Midwest cultural center. The park-like campus is ranked as one of the most beautiful throughout the four seasons with 161 buildings and an extensive public art collection. It is home to the Iowa State Center, an entertainment and sports complex that attracts internationally known performers and touring events. Ames is near Des Moines, the state capital and a center for insurance, finance, and communications. Ames is a quick flight or drive from most major Midwest cities.

The University

An AAU, Carnegie Doctoral/Research University-Extensive, and the nation's first land-grant school, Iowa State offers nationally recognized programs among 112 majors in the sciences and humanities in seven undergraduate colleges. Students work alongside faculty on research and utilize the Parks Library (over 2.3 million volumes). The university's extensive computer system offers wireless service throughout campus. Classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Noted for an exceptional extracurricular environment, the campus is home to 550 clubs and organizations, the world-class Lied Recreation Center, and extensive intramural programs. Iowa State is a Big 12 school, and the Cyclone athletic program is immensely popular with students and the community.

Limitations

Engineering majors must have a 3.00 GPA. Enrollment in exercise/sport science, journalism, and College of Design courses is extremely limited.

 

Prospective NSE students for whom English is NOT their first language must show proficiency in English sufficient to allow them to enroll in full-time academic coursework. Students must demonstrate the English language proficiency by submitting copy of one of the following English proficiency test scores prior to or at the time of placement to be accepted for exchange.
