Program description
The Multicultural Learning Community (MLC) is designed and intended to bring together first-year students from a variety of backgrounds to explore issues relative to race and ethnicity in the state of Iowa and the U. S. through coursework and experiential learning activities outside of class. Like other learning communities, this program provides for students the opportunity to live, study, and learn together, share knowledge, succeed academically, and make connections with experienced students, faculty, and professional staff members.
The MLC distinctively provides an opportunity for new students to:
- Learn more about themselves and others relative to race and ethnicity
- Face new transitional challenges of college life
- Access the support they need to overcome obstacles they may encounter throughout their academic and career development.
