Small Victories
SPRING 2008 UPDATE
Small Victories celebrates the achievements made withing the LGBT community at Iowa State University and recognizes individuals who help foster an environment of diversity on campus.
This year, the celebration is being combined with Lavender Graduation and being presented once each semester. In the spring this will take place on Thursday, May 1st, 2008, from 7-9PM in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union.
Several awards will be presented including: the Scott Rohlf Presidential Leadership Initiative, the W. Houston Dougharty Ally Award, and the Walter J. Allen & Shaun B. Keister Scholarship. Following is a listing of past awards and recipients.
Past speakers at Small Victories include:
- Shelli Fowler - Director of the Graduate Education Development Institute and Associate Professor of English at Virginia Tech,
- Beth Zemsky - Co-chair of the Board of Directos of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
- Judy Dolphin - Executive Director of the Ames/ISU YWCA,
- Ronni Sanlo - Director of the UCLA Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) Campus Resource Center,
- Ann DeGroot - Executive Director of OutFront Minnesota,
- Teresa Wahlert - Vice President of Iowa for US WEST (now Qwest), and
- Anthony D'Augelli - Professor of Human Development at Penn State.
