Obtaining A Tutor
Do I need a Tutor?
Students opt to obtain a tutor for a variety of reasons ranging from desiring academic intervention to gaining a competitive edge in their classes. There are multiple reasons that a student might request a tutor, including:
-
Addressing a temporary struggle with your course work;
-
Receiving a failing grade on an assignment and at risk of failing;
-
Feeling a need to develop more effective study habits, time management strategies, or productive study skills;
-
Desiring to enhance your study skills to excel in a particular course;
-
Requesting short-term assistance in studying for a test or a final;
-
Failing to meet the graduation requirements or maintaining a passing GPA; &
-
Hoping to maintain an A/B average in a course.
How Much Does it Cost?
We understand that financial means to afford a tutor is often a concern. Our goal to maintain tutoring services at a low cost reflects this concern.
Generally, students are charged with a $5 administrative fee and an additional $4.00 an hour for group tutoring and $7.00 an hour for individual tutoring. The charges are sent directly to the student's university bill.
Some students may be eligible for free tutoring through another university program or department. Please inquire with our staff if you believe you may be eligible.
What are the Terms and Conditions of Acquiring a Tutor?
Please review the Policy Statement for further information related to rates, absences, changing or dropping a tutor, and changes in your schedule.
