SI Leader Challenges

SI Leader challenges are simple to complete, yet represent very important tasks. We offer to you these weekly challenges to help you strengthen your ability as a Leader!

Week of August 24: With no SI sessions this week, emphasis must be on promtions of SI. Your specific challenge is to make sure your SI webpage is ready to go, which includes proofreading the content we add, creating your first agenda and announcement, and developing your SI Leader profile.

Week of August 31: This is the first week for SI sessions! Your challenge this week is based on making sure everyone feels welcome and comfortable at SI sessions. At every session this week, be sure to give a brief (less than one minute) overview of SI and your agenda for the specific session.

Week of September 7: Relationships with students are critical to your success. This week, talk to two or three different students at each of your lectures. This means at least six different students. You may talk with them about anything, but it sure would be nice to identify yourself as the SI Leader and mention your next SI session! (MATH 150 alternative -- )

Week of September 14: At every session this week, try at least one small group activity in each session, specifically using the eight basic collaborative learning strategies.

Week of September 21: By now, you should be getting comforatable with the number of people attending your sessions. Your challenge this week is to have a specific conversation with at least one of your frequent attendees. try to get feedback, as well as find out how this person may want to be involved in future sessions. Maybe they cuold hlep you with an upcoming exam review???
